Big Announcement to start with…but please don’t let it put you off…I am a Brit, living in Spain this last nearly 7 years, but yes, I am from “Blighty” as some of us old-timers call it.

One thing to keep in mind is that we, the British, have also been cooking turkey for centuries whilst it is most common to see it on the Yuletide Family table…we ain’t no strangers to prepping them!

OK, that out of the way, let’s get to it.

A little background on Thanksgiving for those who do not hail from over the pond:

Thanksgiving became an official holiday for several reasons. Here are some key points:

Historical Origins: The origins of Thanksgiving can be traced back to the early days of American history. The first Thanksgiving is often associated with the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag Native Americans in 1621. It was a celebration of the successful harvest and a way to give thanks for the blessings of the year.

National Day of Thanksgiving: In 1789, George Washington issued a proclamation calling for a national day of thanksgiving to celebrate the victory over the British in the Battle of Saratoga. This marked the first time that Thanksgiving was recognized as a national holiday.
