Half Corona Cigars & A Bottle of Toluene…
A Job You Could Stick To!
My days of brush-pushing on the shopping malls were coming to an end, through choice I might add.
One thing I would like to point out here, given my checkered employment journey so far: Many may think jobs were plentiful back in the ’80s and ’90s. Not so, here is a graph of the unemployment figures in the UK that underpin how difficult it was back then:
Today, the UK is running at around 4% on average.
Anyway, I digress.
A few weeks of diligent scouring of the Job ads turned up a diamond in the rough…well, I hoped so!
“Trainee Shift Chemist”, I know, I know, what you are thinking, hey what is this guy on?
Nothing ventured nothing gained I say!
Now, the location of this company was the other side of town and it was the days of SAE (stamp addressed envelopes) ie send a letter requesting an application form, which they would mail back, complete said form and send it in and wait…
I get itchy feet when I see an opportunity and can’t wait for that process to work…
