Dilution of Reality?
An Observation
Being a bit of a tech-head, well perhaps more than a “bit” as I make my living tweaking the digital world, I embrace many of the comforts that advancements in technology have made.
Possibly a million or more good innovations have assisted humankind in increasing quality of life.
But…
Well, let’s be open about this…
There are so many things wrong with the world and whether you believe the Climate Crisis, the extent of pollution in domestic water supplies and in the food chain generally…you have to admit, there are some real issues that need some thought…
And action!
Politics has become more and more of an embarrassment and soap opera (worldwide)…the media is manipulated by backhand money deals that often blur the truth…
Yes, I could go on for pages, but I am guessing, you, as a reader of this article, have your own thoughts and observations on what is actually going on with the world.
Almost every day, I step out of our cave, in rural Spain and look out at a reality that feels “right”.
Looking over at the mountains surrounding us covered in forests a plenty, flocks of many types taking the morning air, fields of hay, olive and almond orchards and…
…the lack of urban clatter!
Thankfully, the advancements in technology have meant that we have an internet connection (and thank you Elon for progressing that!). This means I continue to work even “out in the sticks” in an area that will probably never have a phone system or fibre broadband.
So, my point?
I buy into tech, tech that suits my situation, but seeing how it is being harnessed to misinform people and dilute people's reality…well that concerns me.
People have become led by what they are fed and seem to lack the motivation to delve deeper into the world about them or even allow themselves a voice.
As the generations drift on and technology, especially now with hallucinating AI, advances further…will people just retire into their bubbles and accept whatever fate those at the steering wheel have in store for them?
Don't get me wrong, at the end of a hard day in my creative work, I like most people, want to catch up on a few box sets, watch easy mush telly, scroll through FB, TikTok, Insta and the like…
But…
Watcher beware!
Don't believe all that you see, read or hear…
And let’s not get into “Influencers”…
Really?
Surely you can see the marketing asset they are and the fact that only a VERY FEW (I have done the research) have complete ethical volition behind the products or services they promote.
The power in their engine is the dollar…oh hey, being money-orientated isn't a sin, but offloading false claims and scam products to make bank…well, that, I ain't into.
Religion?
Race?
Gender?
War?
Pheeeew…
Look, it’s nearing midnight here, so I think I will wrap this up…
Not sure if you will see the message within or perhaps you will take it as a rant from me lol
Anyway, all health and good fortune to you whatever your choices in life.
